Job Duties

  • Operate and maintain boiler room and process plant equipment in an environmentally responsible manner. 
  • Complete required equipment preventative maintenance. 
  • Complete small repairs to various systems, including steam and condensate systems. 
  • Relay key issues and problems in a timely manner to the appropriate personnel via email and/or phone as required.  
  • Collect samples and performs quality testing on samples to maintain quality specification. 
  • Adjust process settings to achieve the quality specifications.        
  • Demonstrate sufficient boiler and plant equipment competency to operate and troubleshoot plant boiler, stills, hot oil heaters, incinerators, and plant air system.
  • Monitor and oversee the fire and sprinkler system with the use of outside resources as necessary.   
  • Monitor heaters, incinerators, pumps, blowers, fume reduction systems, valves, boilers, tanks, instruments, flow meters, panel lights, other indicators, and other equipment to ensure proper operation, conformity of process conditions.  
  • Inform supervisor or other designee when unscheduled maintenance is required.  
  • Monitor work area to observe and inspect equipment for potential and actual hazards, wear, leaks, and other abnormal conditions.
  • Complete shift, daily, and weekly logs as required.       
  • Learn Statistical Process Control (SPC) software to input, maintain, and track statistical quality data obtained from quality tests utilizing Wonderware Trend to analyze the process for trends.  
  • Attend safety/operations meetings as required.  
  • Maintain cross training in boiler and process areas. 

Job Requirements

  • A valid State of Minnesota 2nd Class B or higher Boiler Operator's license. 
  • A high school diploma or equivalent.  
  • Ability to perform higher level mathematics and simple statistical calculations.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with all levels of personnel.
  • Ability to work within a teamwork environment. 
  • Basic computer knowledge with the ability to make decisions based on data. 
  • Preferred/Desired Experience:  Vocational school, industrial experience, technical college or an accredited institution in certifying skills in the following areas:  High pressure boilers operation, industrial maintenance, or a diploma in industrial technician or industrial machine maintenance.        

Work Schedule – Wednesday thru Sunday, 2pm - 10pm (this includes a paid 30 minute lunch)
